The only place in Osaka where you can make traditional Japanese Washi paper from raw materials. Enjoy making and designing traditional Japanese paper using dried, pressed seasonal flowers and leaves that can be made into a set of postcards, table-mat, wraparound lampshade or tapestry panel. Handmade Japanese Washi paper is the perfect souvenir or gift from Japan!

Workshops are available on Tuesday thru Saturday at 10:00am.

In this workshop you can make paper from raw materials, and add designs using dried, pressed flowers and leaves (such as cherry blossoms and maple leaves) as well as Washi paper cut outs.
From start to finish, the workshop takes approximately 60 minutes – making the paper, designing, drying and removing water and heat sealing. After making your Washi paper, you can take your take your newly made paper home.
You can also select the option of an additional hour of unlimited paper making - so once you have perfected the way to make Washi paper, you can set to work making and designing more Japanese Washi paper for yourself or for gifts/souvenirs for friends or family.

In this workshop you can make your own unique Goshuin-cho which you can use to collect the calligraphy seals and stamps at all temples and shrines in Japan. The wash paper in the Goshuin-cho is folded in accordion style pages, so when the book is unfolded, it becomes a beautiful scroll of red and black calligraphy ... More info ›

In this workshop you can make your own unique Goshuin-cho which you can use to collect the calligraphy seals and stamps at all temples and shrines in Japan. The wash paper in the Goshuin-cho is folded in accordion style pages, so when the book is unfolded, it becomes a beautiful scroll of red and black calligraphy.
The workshop will take approximately 40 minutes to 1 hour, and will begin with choosing the handmade Yuzen paper with a unique design of your choice, before constructing your Goshuin-cho. When your book is made it is ready to take to any temple or shrine. At each temple or shrine, a priest will stamp the intricately carved seal of the temple your book and then will inscribe the name of the temple, the date of your visit, and any additional prayers or symbols that the location is famous for - in traditional Japanese calligraphy. This is the ultimate souvenir from Japan, and a unique way to chronicle your journey!
