and therefore also its sake (with top quality rice being a primary ingredient),
also a great place to sample fresh fish and seafood from the Japan Sea.
There are sights such as Hakusan Shrine and Gardens,  Bandai Bridge across the Shinano river
and the street markets in the old Furumachi district.
Take in the view of Niigata and its surrounding countryside from the observation decks of either the MEDIA SHIP building in Bandai or the Toki Messe convention centre near Niigata port. On a clear day you can see as far as Sado island.
There are also plenty of onsen (hot-spring) towns dotted through the mountains, perfect for a relaxing soak!

This tour will allow you to explore Niigata more efficiently in one day. 

 In this tour, you can choose 3 or 4 places to visit for 7-hour sightseeing tour.

We mainly use public transportation networks like Niigata city loopline bus service ( one-day ticket JPY 500 ) and taxi if necessary.

Fish and vegatable market with restaurants popular for locals and tourists.

 ●"Imayotsukasa" sake brewery

There is a guided brewery tour and after the tour, you can try some of the sake right here in the brewery!

 ●The Niigata Saito Villa

Built about 100 years ago, this gorgeous villa and Japanese style garden attracts visitors all year round. You can enjoy green tea and sweets with the beautiful Japanese style garden.

Niigata is Japan's foremost senbei producer. To make these rice crackers, you pound the rice, knead the powder, and grill while applying say sauce, salt, and other flavorings. At Senbei Okoku you can learn about the process, watch it in action, and then do it yourself (1,000yen ~ 1,500yen). Gifts and dining are also available.

  ●Hakusan Shrine

Located near Furumachi, this shrine is very popular to visit among the people live there, it’s famous for the prosperity of descendants and business.

There is a park named Hakusan Park. You can enjoy walking. When you are tired, you can take a rest at Enkikan with Japanese tea and sweets.

 ● Nuttari Terrace Street

This new street started in 2015 with unique shops, including Izakaya, ceramic art studio, coffee shop, bakery, deli, accessory shops, and bookstore etc. You will spend a pleasant day feeling a modern  but nostalgic asmosphere.

Ride Japan's longest gondola enjoying views of the stunning mountains and fall colors along the 3.4 mile (5481m) course. Stroll around the top station, taking in the scenery and fresh air, and stroll across to the Tashiro Ropeway. 

 

Meet at Yukiguni Tourist Information outside the Echigo Yuzawa Station West Exit at your preferred time.

From there, you will hop on a private taxi for about 35 minutes to the Naeba Dragondola Station. The "Dragondola" was named by a famous Japanese pop singer, Matsutoya Yumi. This 3.4 mile (5481m) meter gondola ride takes about 25 minutes and you get off at the far side at the Tashiro Station.

Here, you will have some free time to walk around and enjoy the view before the 30 minute walk over to the Tashiro Ropeway Station. This tour offers one of Japan's longest vertical descents at 754ft (230m) and overlooks the emerald green Tashiro Lake and Mount Naeba. Ride down the Tashiro Ropeway (which takes about 10 minutes) and the taxi will be waiting for you at the bottom. It will bring you back to the Echigo-Yuzawa Station. 

Please note: the entire tour will take about 3.5 hours and does not include a guide.

Tokamachi's local dishes consist of many types of mountain vegetables. You will be taught local household dishes that are not served in eateries. You will also be provided with the recipe so that you may try it back home as well.

The menu will roughly consist of 3 dishes, staple food and soup. As for the specific dishes, it will be a surprise for the day!
