Temple lodging, or Shukubo offers guests a taste of a monk’s lifestyle: eating vegetarian (vegan, actually) monk’s cuisine (shojin ryori) and attending the morning ritual and prayers. Around fifty temples offer these services to pilgrims and visitors.
