Day 1 [D]:
3:00 PM: Meet you guide at Nobiru Station and then check in to the homestay, also called "minshuku" in Japanese, by a local fisherman family. Experience a traditional Japanese-style room with a tatami floor, and spend some time interacting with your hosts.

3:30 PM: Have two hours of leisure time. You can go biking (self-guided) in Oku-Matsushima. Bike along the coast line and see the beautiful nature, local lifestyle, or stop by attractions such as Jyomonmura Village Museum, Mt. Otakamori, Saga Valley, and more. Ask your host family for recommendations. Alternatively, you can relax in your comfortable Japanese style room until dinner time.

6:00 PM: Enjoy a fresh seafood dinner with your host family. Take this rare opportunity to ask the locals about Japan, Matsushima, and everything else. You will be accompanied by an English interpreter who can assist you with the communication

Day 2 [L]:
9:00 AM: Start your day with a unique fishing experience with a local traditional fishing expert and learn some fishing techniques, such as surf fishing, net fishing, basket fishing, etc.

12:30 PM: Enjoy a fresh seafood BBQ with local fish and ingredients

12:30pm - Lunch

1:30pm - Tea ceremony and walking tour in Matsushima
Tea ceremony will be held at this property, which is not open to the public. Enjoy VIP access to a private tea room with beautiful traditional Japanese wall paintings. 4:30pm - Transfer to the accommodation.

After tea ceremony you will go on a walking tour of Matsushima. Visit the symbol of Matsushima - Zuiganji Temple, registered as Japan National Treasure and Important Cultural Property. After Matsushima became a base of the historical warrior Masamune Date, he and his family built a number of impressive facilities including Zuiganji Temple. This area was beloved by Masamune Date because of its excellent location as a port city surrounded by hundreds of islands and sunken rocks that prevent the invasion of enemies. Thanks to those islands, Matsushima suffered relatively smaller damage from the tsunami occurred in March, 2011.

You will also visit the Godaido Temple (Japan Important Cultural Property) and Entsuin Temple. If time allows, stop by the famous pine tree "Saigyo Modish". After Matsushima became a base of the warrior, Masamune Date's, family, they built a number of impressive facilities. One of them, Zuiganji Temple, is registered as National Treasure and is known as a symbol of Matsushima. Arrive at Tokyo station before 6:45 AM (recommended) and look for Tohoku bullet train (shinkansen) platform.
