Learn the most common rules of visiting a shrine in Japan, get the chance to write your personal wish on a votive Shinto tablet in Japanese and get to know its history. Walk through the sacred place and learn about the indigenous faith of the Japanese people.

Meet us at the Hotoku Ninomiya Shrine right behind the Odawara Castle. After arriving at the Shrine desk an English or German speaking guide will lead you through the sacred place and will translate all your questions.

Enter the place from the main entrance and learn the rules of visiting a Shinto Shrine. Get to know the difference between Temples and Shrines in Japan and learn the importance of purification while cleaning hands and mouth with water. Enter the halls and meet a real Shinto priest. Listen to his stories and learn about way of believing and connection between Japans Religion and mother nature. Practice together with the Shinto priest how to use a sacred branch of tree and join an ancient Shinto ceremony.

After the ceremony you will proceed to another room, where you meet a Shrine maiden, who explains the history of votive Shrine tablets. Write your own personnel wish and your name in Japanese calligraphy. After you finished your writings you will walk back to the Shrine desk, where you receive a Shrine stamp.

Visit a sacred Shinto Shrine, meet a real Shinto priest and get the chance to talk with him about life at the shrine, Japanese religion and much more. Visit different local shops, meet their owners and taste traditional local food for free. Walk to an old Japanese style house and try yourself in making your own bowl of Matcha tea.

Meet us at the Odawara station, in front of the Odakyu line. A local English or German speaking guide, will walk with you to the near castle park.

Learn about history of the castle town and about the structures of the different castle gates while walking through the park. Without entering the castle, the local guide will lead you to a small Shinto Shrine on the backside of the castle, where you will learn the rules of visiting a Shinto Shrine. Get to know the difference between temples and shrines in Japan and learn the importance of purification.
